My Story
Hi, I'm Sofia Miyake.
I am based in Roseville, California — just outside Sacramento.
I photograph what actually happens. That means I spend most of a session watching rather than arranging, and the pictures you keep are usually the ones nobody was posing for.
I work across California and the states around it. Anywhere outside the Roseville and Sacramento area, I quote the travel honestly rather than folding it into a package you did not ask for.
Some people come to me for a wedding. Some want one good photograph of everyone in the same place before the kids get any taller. Both are worth doing properly.

From friends to strangers, I have photographed weddings, engagements, graduations and family portraits.
Medium Variety
I am a photographer first, but I also shoot video, film and polaroid. Any of them can be added to a session — ask, and I will tell you whether it suits what you want.
Organic Outcome
We talk before the session about what you actually want from it. That conversation is the reason the gallery comes back looking like your family rather than like a style I happened to be in that month.
Lasting Impact
Photographs are better off a screen. I print, frame and make photo books, so the day does not end up living only in a folder nobody opens.

What happens after you write to me
I shoot in Roseville and Lincoln, Rocklin and Granite Bay, Folsom and Sacramento. Elsewhere in California, or a state next to it, I quote personalized rates.
I read every inquiry myself and reply personally, usually within one or two business days. Contracts and scheduling run through HoneyBook, so there is one place to sign and one calendar to look at.
Before I pick up a camera we talk about what you actually want out of the session. That is the consultation, and it is the part that keeps the final gallery from being a guess. On the day I direct only when it helps and otherwise stay out of the way — anything we settled beforehand is there to fall back on, not a list to work through in order.
Your photographs come back in a private online gallery, fully edited, with high-resolution downloads. Prints, framed work and photo books are available when you'd rather have the pictures off a screen and on a wall.
