Golden hour, on purpose

Sessions run in the hour before sunset, when the light across the valley goes warm and low. It is the best light your family will get all year, and it does not last long.

Your place or mine

Your own backyard, a park you already love — Maidu, Mahany, Johnson-Springview in Rocklin — or a spot I'll suggest: an oak field off Blue Oaks, open grass, somewhere with room to move. Entirely your call.

Short on purpose

Thirty minutes is long enough to get the photos and short enough that nobody melts down. Built for families with small kids and limited patience.

Weekends in October

Tell me which weekend works. If a weeknight is the only thing that fits, ask — I can usually make it work.

What these look like

Photographed this season in Roseville and Sacramento — the same light, the same time of day, the same thirty minutes.

How it goes.

01

You pick a date

Pick the evening that works straight from the booking calendar — once you pay the deposit, it's yours. If you have a spot in mind, add it in the notes, or I can recommend one based on your vibe. You'll get a short styling note after booking — nothing complicated, just what tends to photograph well in this light.

02

We shoot for thirty minutes

I give the kids something to do rather than somewhere to stand, and photograph what actually happens. You don't need anyone to behave. That's rather the point.

03

Your gallery arrives

A private online gallery of 45+ edited high-resolution images, yours to download, print and share. Prints and albums are available if you want something to hang.

A short window, once a year

The Sacramento Valley gets a short run of this every year — dry gold grass, low sun, warm air, no haze. Once it goes, it is gone until next autumn. If you've been meaning to get family photos done, this is the window that makes them look the way you're picturing.

Things people usually ask

Do you come to us, or do we meet somewhere?
Either — whichever you'd rather. Some families want their own backyard or living room; others like meeting somewhere with open evening light. I shoot around Roseville, Rocklin and greater Sacramento, so most spots work. If you'd like me to choose, I have a few favorites.
What does $200 include?
About thirty minutes of shooting at golden hour, and 45 or more edited high-resolution images in a private online gallery you can download, print and share. No hidden session fee on top.
How many people can come?
Everyone is welcome: parents and kids, grandparents, cousins, the whole family.
What should we wear?
I'll send a short styling note once you book. The quick version: coordinate without matching, lean into texture and soft colors, and wear something you actually feel good in. No matching white shirts required.
Can we bring the dog?
Always yes. Dogs make every session better. (Cats are negotiable.)
What if the weather turns?
We'll watch it together and move your session to another evening if we need to — no fee for weather. Fall in the valley is usually reliable, but October has opinions.
How soon do we get the photos?
Your gallery arrives within two weeks of your session. If you need something sooner for a holiday card, tell me when you book and I'll work to it.
Can we bring grandparents or cousins?
Yes. Extended family is welcome at a mini session too. Choose a slot as usual and tell me who’s coming in your booking notes, so I can plan the group shots.
